11 G/A Premier League talisman drops shock hint he’s Man United-bound, his club will be furious

Matheus Cunha has dropped a surprise – and rather random – hint that he wants to join Manchester United.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers talisman may be looking to abort the club’s seemingly sinking ship with a transfer in 2025, though it remains to be seen whether he could do so as early as January or if he’ll have to wait until the summer, at which point the Midlands outfit may have confirmed their spot in the Championship for next season.

Cunha has been one silver lining amidst such a turbulent campaign at the Molineux thus far but is likely growing resigned to the fact that his best efforts are not enough to keep Wolves afloat for the remainder of the term. They’re currently 19th-placed after sustaining 11 defeats in their opening 16 matches and have earned only nine points. Ipswich Town are on 12 points in 18th place, while Leicester City are just above the drop in 17th on 14 points.

Of the side’s 24 goals scored, Cunha is responsible for 11 of them – scoring eight himself and assisting another three. That’s exactly why the Molineux faithful will now be sweating on the absence of their most creative attacker, as Cunha is on the verge of being handed a potentially lengthy ban following the post-match brawl that took place last Saturday.

Wolves dropped more points to Ipswich Town over the weekend after conceding a brutal dagger in the fourth minute of injury time. Cunha had scored a 72nd-minute equaliser to cancel out Matt Doherty’s first-half own-goal, but Jack Taylor’s late winner from a set-piece ensured the Tractor Boys left with a much-needed victory.

Things then immediately got heated upon the full-time whistle; Rayan Ait-Nouri received a red card and had to be dragged down the tunnel after clashing with Wes Burns, while Cunha was caught on video tussling with an Ipswich staff member and pulling his glasses off his face. He has since been charged by the Football Association and is now facing a spell out of action.

Yet, the Brazilian’s mind is already pondering what could be next on the cards in his career, it seems. Today, United fans picked up on a comment he’d liked on his most recent Instagram post, which read: “Manchester United soon”.

It’s a transfer that the majority of supporters would jump at the chance to see happen, especially amidst the expectation that Marcus Rashford will be sold in the new year.
