At least 12 passengers lost their lives in a fatal accident on Saturday along the Lapai-Agaie Road in Niger State.
Eyewitnesses said the crash occurred at Nami village following a head-on collision between a Wemer passenger bus carrying 15 people and a trailer.
The victims included eight men and four women, three of whom were reportedly from the same family.
The driver of the bus, Mohammed Baba, survived with injuries and was rushed to Lapai General Hospital for treatment.
Recounting the incident, Baba said the trailer driver attempted to overtake another vehicle but lost control, leading to the crash.
The Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the accident, adding that officials were still gathering details from the scene.
He urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and drive cautiously to prevent such tragedies. Tsukwam assured that a full report would be released after the investigation was completed
