The young Newcastle United stars found themselves in a six goal thriller today.

The NUFC Under 18s having opened their season with a 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough, were at home to their Derby County counterparts, who were looking to follow up a 5-1 home win over Liverpool last weekend.

Top scorer for the NUFC Under 18s as a 16 year old last season, it only took now 17 year old striker Sean Neave 11 minutes to put Newcastle in the lead on Saturday.

However, Derby hit back with a goal either side of the interval to turn it around.

Not to be outdone, Newcastle United’s young stars hit back through Sean Neave to equalise a few minutes later.

Then the 17 year old Newcastle United forward completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot just after the hour mark.

Just when it looked as though the hat-trick hero was going to help Newcastle’s Under 18s to a win, Derby County then scored a penalty of their own deep into added time.

Final score:

Newcastle United Under 18s 3 Derby County U18s 3

Newcastle United:

Harrison, Johnson (Tika-Lemba 78), Durrant, Watts, Craggs, Bloomer, M.Miley (Cogdon 73), Waddani, Neave, Taylor, Ferreira
