18 Ghana Premier League clubs agree to enhanced matchday security protocols at emergency meeting

The eighteen clubs in the Ghana Premier League have committed to enhanced matchday protocols following Thursday's emergency meeting.

At a meeting which started at 11:AM and ended after 18:00 hours GMT, representatives of the Ghana Premier League clubs agreed to a strict enforcement of the club licensing regulations.

In a joint statement released by the league, the clubs said; ''all Premier League clubs have agreed to an enhanced matchday security protocols.''

''These protocols will form the basis of an Executive Council meeting at the GFA secretariat on Friday, February 7, 2025, after which the comprehensive guidelines shall be published ahead of the Premier League season.''

Thursday's emergency meeting was expected to feature a joint position paper from Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

However, Ghana's two biggest clubs did not present the paper for discussion.

Braimah Akanbi who represented Hearts of Oak, told JoySports that ''though we came up with something, during the meeting, we realized that it was not necessary to do any submission because almost (the same). Whatever we had, it was almost the same thing that we met here. It is the same thing that we are all fighting for.''

Vincent Sowah-Odotei and Braimah Akanbi represented Hearts of Oak, while Richard Osei Akoto and Sarfo Duku represented Asante Kotoko.
