Antony’s agent has directly rebuffed the prospect of the Manchester United attacker being offered out to Saudi Pro League clubs.
Earlier this month, reports suggested that the underperforming Brazilian and outcast Jadon Sancho had been slapped with a combined £100 million price tag and transfer listed, with the United board specifically targeting a deal with Saudi sides in hopes of recuperating substantial fees for the players.
However, Antony’s representative, Junior Pedroso, has addressed the claims with a statement that reads: “We’ve not received any communication from Man United about Antony and potential transfer for January or summer window”.
“Antony has his head focused on doing his best for Manchester and improving his numbers,” he added, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Antony’s lacklustre United career
The 23-year-old, who earns a reported £200,000 per week, registered his first goal contributions of the season on Sunday after 23 appearances. Antony restored the Reds’ lead against Newport County in the second half and assisted Bruno Fernandes for the opener, in a match which ultimately ended 4-2 in United’s favour and secured their progression to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Still, his time at Old Trafford has been nothing short of underwhelming given the high expectations that came with his £86 million transfer, so even if he does stay over the coming windows, he can’t have too much credit left in the bank unless his form picks up drastically.
