During his long interview given to Elise Lucet as part of Special Envoy, Kylian Mbappé spoke of the Blues’ coronation at the World Cup in Russia.

Kylian Mbappé has left his mark on the last two editions. Because before being the unfortunate hero of the 2022 World Cup, his incredible hat-trick not having been enough to overcome Argentina, he had been on the winning side, four years earlier, when the team of France won its second star by winning against Croatia (4-2) with a goal from the former Monegasque.

But according to the Bondynois, this coronation in Russia did not transport him as expected. “It’s perhaps incomprehensible, but it didn’t do much for me, I was too young. I was so unconscious, it didn’t do much for me, he confided to Elise Lucet for Envoyé Spécial. Winning made me happy but I didn’t realize what I was winning. I came home quickly in the evening, I didn’t celebrate like crazy. I was much more aware at the 2022 World Cup, of what the World Cup represented, than in 2018. It was my first. It was a discovery World Cup and we won straight away. I didn’t create a particular emotion. In 2022, there were a lot more emotions.”
