The president of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih has described Eniola Bolaji’s bronze medal feat at the Paris 2024 Paralympics para-badminton event as a product of investment.

Bolaji defeated Kozyna Oksana of Ukraine 21-9, 21-9, to win a bronze medal and become the first Nigerian and African athlete to win an Olympic or Paralympic medal in badminton.

In a press release by the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, the president hailed the player, saying she crossed through the hurdles to achieve this feat.

“The BFN extends its heartfelt congratulations to Eniola Mariam Bolaji for her outstanding performance,” the federation’s president said.

“Though the journey to this point was a very rough ride, but we are here now with a medal to show for all the effort and investment both on the part of the federation and more importantly from the player herself,” the president said.

“Eniola's remarkable victory is a testament to her unwavering dedication, exceptional talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

He said her achievement has become a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across Africa and Nigeria.

“Her hard work and perseverance has paid off, not only for herself but for the entire Nigerian sporting community,” he added.
