Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo says he’s confident the Super Eagles will wrestle the three points away from Benin in Thursday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Recall that one point against Benin will secure a place for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2025, but the team will be looking to claim maximum points, especially as the game will be played in Abidjan, Ivory Coast due to Benin’s lack of a suitable stadium.
Nigeria won 3-0 in the reverse fixture thanks to a brace from 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year nominee and favourite, Ademola Lookman, and a goal from reigning CAF Men’s Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen.

However, speaking with Completesports.com, Ekpo stated that the Super Eagles will overcome Benin at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny.
“I am very optimistic the Super Eagles will get the better of Benin on Thursday. Yes, they will want to prove difficult to beat but then the array of attackers in the team will subdue Benin.
“This is a game I know the Super Eagles will want to prove a point with, having lost to Benin in Ivory Coast during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
“This particular dame will be too difficult for Benin and I am sure the Super Eagles will come out with the three points after 90 minutes.”
