Super Eagles defender Willaim Troost Ekong believes with the attacking talents in the team they can beat any opponent.
Troost-Ekong stated this on the backdrop of Nigeria’s impressive 3-0 win over Benin in today’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Goals from Victor Osimhen and a brace from Ademola Lookman were enough to earn the Super Eagles the maximum points.

Speaking with the NFFTV, Troost-Ekong stated that the team has so much faith in interim head coach, Augustine Eguavoen.
“We respected Benin the last time we played against them. Like I said, it was only yesterday we believed in ourselves and great believe in our coach. He’s like a family member who has come back to us now, and we knew we had to take responsibility now.
“I think with the attacking talent that we have, we don’t have to name them. I think everybody knows how dangerous we are. We try our best to shut the door at the back, and when we create chances, we tend to score. I have great believe that we gave the boys balls to score and they out them straight into the net.
“This is a good indication of the direction we are heading and the first step of many that we have to take to get to the Afcon”.
