Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has condemned the ill-treatment meted on the players by the Libyan authorities since they landed at the Al Abaq Airport on Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.

Recall that the players and officials were left stranded at the Airport without any of the Libyan officials attending to them.

Libya was to host the three-time African champions at the 10,000-capacity Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, located just 10 kilometres from Benghazi, but reports emerged that they were diverted to another city.

Reacting to the development via his official X handle, the Bayer Leverkusen star expressed his frustration and noted that Africa can do better.

Boniface wrote, “Been at the airport for almost 13 hours, no food, no Wi-Fi, nowhere to sleep. Africa, we can do better.”
