2025 AFCONQ: Rohr To Unveil Squad Thursday Ahead Super Eagles Vs Benin Republic

Gernot Rohr is expected to announce his squad on Thursday, August 29, 2024, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

This was revealed by Joueurs Beninois on X handle.

Cheetahs of Benin Republic will be guests of the Super Eagles in Group D on matchday 1 of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Uyo.

The game Which comes up on Saturday, August 7, 2024, is billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The last meeting between both teams saw Benin Republic come from a goal down to beat the Eagles 2-1 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Abidjan in June.

Three days later, the Eagles will travel to Kigali to face Rwanda while Benin Republic will host Libya in Abidjan on matchday 2 fixtures.

Meanwhile, there is the possiblity of Paris Saint-Germain right-back Colin Dagba getting a call-up by Rohr.

Joueurs Beninois reported that Dagba has expressed interest in featuring for Benin Republic.

The 25-year-old could get his first invite to the national team ahead of the qualifiers.

Also, the Super Eagles now have a new coach in the person of Bruno Lab adia from Germany.

The 58-year-old was a former coach of Bayer Leverkusen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Hertha Berlin.
