2025 AFCONQ: South Africa Edge South Sudan In Five-Goal Thriller, Zimbabwe Draw Vs Cameroon

Another stoppage time goal from Thalente Mbatha this time secured a 3-2 win for South Africa’s Bafana Bafana away to South Sudan in Group K of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers on Tuesday.

Bafana Bafana looked like they will record their second draw of the qualifiers after also grabbing a late goal to draw 2-2 with Uganda.

Just like in the game against Uganda, Mbatha emerged the hero with the goal which this time was the winner in the 95th minute.

Tito Okello gave South Sudan the lead on 15 minutes but a brace from Oswin Appollis turned the scoreline around tor Bafana Bafana.

Valentino Yuel then equalised for South Sudan before Mbatha sealed the win for his team.

After two games played, South Africa are in second spot on four points while leaders Uganda are also on four points.

Congo (three points) and South Sudan (zero point) are third and fourth respectively.

Also in Group J, Zimbabwe held Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to a goalless draw.

It was Zimbabwe’s second draw in the group which place them in third place.

Kenya, on four points, are top and are followed by Cameroon also on four points.

Both Zimbabwe and South Africa are in the same group with the Super Eagles, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The games the Eagles played against South Africa and Zimbabwe both ended 1-1.
