Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, remains committed to delivering impactful projects across the state and is uninterested in engaging in political battles ahead of the 2027 elections.

This is according to the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Mr Charles Aniagwu.

Aniagwu made this known on Monday during his first address at the Ministry of Information in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where he dismissed rumours about the governor’s political affiliations and emphasised the administration’s focus on governance.

“Governor Oborevwori is a proud and dedicated member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Today, he is a clear leader among party leaders in Nigeria, and there is no hunger or ambition to abandon the PDP,” Aniagwu stated.

Aniagwu highlighted Oborevwori’s approach to governance, which he said prioritises responding to critics by delivering massive projects that advance the state.

“Having continued with the numerous projects he inherited, the governor is also initiating new ones while ensuring ongoing projects are completed,” Aniagwu said.

Some of the key projects listed include: the Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass; the Beneku Bridge; Asaba-Ughelli Dual Carriageway (Sector C1, C2, and repairs in Sector B); and the 6-Story High Court Complex in Asaba

Aniagwu also noted that in Delta South, numerous roads in Warri, Isoko North, and Isoko South have been completed, with more underway.

Transforming Warri, Effurun

Highlighting new initiatives, Aniagwu pointed out that the Warri and Effurun skyline is undergoing a significant transformation.

The projects, spearheaded by Julius Berger, include three flyover bridges and road expansion works.

“These projects will redefine the landscape of the Warri-Effurun corridor and further boost economic activities in the area,” he added.

Aniagwu revealed that over N200 billion has been paid to reduce the state’s debt stock, while contractors are being mobilised for new jobs with outstanding certificates cleared promptly.

He also recalled Oborevwori’s remarks at a recent Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) event in Ughelli North, where the governor urged Deltans to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“The governor made it clear that supporting Tinubu’s administration equals support for his own governance efforts. This is not about politics but about ensuring effective governance for the benefit of all Deltans,” Aniagwu concluded.
