Martin Dubravka (Newcastle) – 7.21
The first of four Newcastle representatives in our best XI is goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who helped his side to three wins and two clean sheets in April. The Slovakian stopper scooped the Player of the Match award after a fine showing against Fulham earlier this month, where he made four saves and five high claims.
Ben White (Arsenal) – 7.42
Arsenal defender Ben White enjoyed yet another impressive month as part of the Premier League’s strongest backline as the Gunners kept four clean sheets across their six matches in April. White also netted a first ever career brace in the 5-0 win over Chelsea, before rounding off the month by helping his side to victory in the North London derby.
Fabian Schar (Newcastle) – 7.26
Newcastle centre-back Fabian Schar earns a place at the heart of our back four having headed home his fourth league goal of the season in the 4-0 victory over Tottenham two weeks ago. Throughout the month, Schar also made 10 tackles, nine interceptions and 14 aerial wins to help his side to two clean sheets.
James Tarkowski (Everton) – 7.09
Joining Schar at centre-back is Everton’s James Tarkowski, who helped the Toffees take 13 points from a possible 18 in April. The 31-year-old played a crucial part as Sean Dyche’s side registered four home victories without conceding a goal. Tarkowski won 26 aerial duels in the six matches he played, while he also made a whopping 36 clearances.
Sergio Reguilon (Brentford) – 7.42
Sergio Reguilon’s bright spell on loan with Brentford continued through April, as the Tottenham full-back registered three assists in four league starts. In all, the Spaniard made 11 key passes, four successful dribbles, 10 tackles and nine clearances.
Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 8.36
Chelsea star Cole Palmer was the Premier League’s top scorer in April, having netted back-to-back hat-tricks at Stamford Bridge in wins over Manchester United and Everton. Those stellar showings from the 21-year-old saw him become the first player to register multiple perfect 10-rated performances in the Premier League this season.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 8.42
But with a WhoScored rating of 8.42, former Manchester City teammate Kevin De Bruyne pips Palmer to the post as our Premier League Player of the Month. The Belgian playmaker was directly involved in six goals across April (3 goals, 3 assists), while he also managed 14 key passes and 16 shots on goal.
Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – 8.31
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes scored in all but one of his side’s Premier League matches in April, bringing his tally of goals for the season to 10 in the process. The Portuguese midfielder also registered one assist and made a total of 22 key passes, more than any Premier League player throughout the month.
Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) – 8.18
Anthony Gordon’s magnificent season for Newcastle continued into April as the 23-year-old registered four goal involvements across his four league starts (1 goal, 3 assists). Gordon, who could be in line for a place at the Euros with England this summer, also managed a further 12 key passes and 10 successful dribbles.
Kai Havertz (Arsenal) – 7.99
After a slow start to the season, Arsenal’s Kai Havertz continues to prove the doubters wrong in 2024, and brought his tally of goals for the season to 12 with four goals in April. The German attacker netted in a 3-0 win over Brighton at the beginning of the month, before bagging a brace against former side Chelsea and a goal in Sunday’s North London derby.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle) – 7.84
Joining Gordon in our front four is teammate Alexander Isak, who added five goals to his league tally in April, which now stands at 19. All of those strikes came at St James’ Park, as the Sweden international made it seven consecutive home matches with a goal.
