4 Newcastle United stars make ‘Whoscored’ Premier League team of week

A number of Newcastle United stars were contenders for a Premier League team of the week.

Eddie Howe’s players producing that excellent (second half!) display at St James’ Park after a poor first half, only lit up by Isak’s superb finish.

Sheffield United wasting some great chances in the opening 45, though Dan Burn thwarted them on a number of occasions with some brilliant last ditch blocks.

In the end though a 5-1 home victory, courtesy of four goals in 20 second half minutes blowing the visitors away.

Whoscored have included four Newcastle United stars from Saturday afternoon at St James’ Park, in their PL team of the week.

Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento came in for his 10th league start of the season as the Magpies thrashed Sheffield United 5-1 at St James’ Park on Saturday. The 21-year-old made three tackles, two interceptions, three clearances and three key passes contributing to a WhoScored rating of 7.38.

Andy Robertson (Liverpool) – 8.16

Noni Madueke (Chelsea) – 8.71

Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle) – 8.38

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes bagged his fifth league goal of the season in Saturday’s rout of Sheffield United, finding the net with one of his four attempts on goal that afternoon. The Brazilian also made two tackles, two interceptions, two key passes and four successful dribbles to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.38.

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – 8.25

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) – 8.66

Anthony Gordon continued his impressive season for Newcastle by adding to his tally of goal involvements against Sheffield United on Saturday. The 23-year-old provided the assist for Bruno Guimaraes’ 54th-minute finish, while he also made three key passes and three successful dribbles to post a WhoScored rating of 8.66.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) – 8.86

With a WhoScored rating of 8.86, Newcastle hitman Alexander Isak is our Premier League Player of the Week after his performance against Sheffield United. Isak’s brace against the Blades on Saturday saw him score in a seventh successive home league match, while it brought his tally of goals for the season to 19, a personal record. Isak also made two key passes and three successful dribbles in what was a fine all-round showing.
