Benjamin Sesko is ready to join Arsenal this summer with the Gunners in pole position to sign the striker.

Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in four new players this summer in a bid to close the gap on Manchester City after just missing out on the Premier League title this season.

A striker is thought to be high up on their list of priorities with RB Leipzig star Sesko identified as a top target.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also thought to be tracking the 20-year-old but The Mirror report Arsenal now lead the race with Sesko preferring a move to the Emirates.

The Slovenia international is thought to have a release clause of £56million written into his contract that must be activated before the end of June.

Arsenal could get him in for less than that even with a £45m deal currently being lined up.

Sesko only joined the German side from Red Bull Salzburg last summer, scoring 18 goals in 42 appearances this season.

Arsenal were keen to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer but have been told under no uncertain term that the Sweden international is not for sale. Ajax star Brian Brobbey has also been linked with a move.

Arteta, who is currently in talks with the club over a new deal, is eager to refresh his squad with four new signings this summer with a defender, a central midfielder and cover on the right wing for Bukayo Saka being sought.

Another goalkeeper may also be on their transfer list with Aarn Ramsdale expected to leave north London having lost his place in goal to David Raya.

Homegrown stars Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rower could also be moved on with Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares and Kieran Tierney, also up for sale.

Gabriel Jesus, who scored just eight league goals for the Gunners this season, has also been linked with a move away with reports claiming the club will listen to offers for the former Manchester City star.

Arteta however strongly dismissed suggestions the club are looking to offload the forward.
