Mathys Tel remains keen on a move to Manchester United despite joining Premier League rivals Tottenham in January, according to reports.
The French forward completed a deadline-day switch to Spurs after rejecting a move to north London earlier in the window.
Man United and Arsenal expressed interest in signing Tel, 19, after talks with Tottenham broke down but both clubs failed to reach an agreement with Bayern Munich.
It appeared as though the teenage star would be forced to stay at the Allianz Arena, where he was struggling for game-time under Vincent Kompany, but Tottenham came back in on deadline day to secure a last-gasp loan deal.
Tel will now spend the rest of the season on loan at Spurs, who have an option to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer for £45m.
The ex-Bayern Munich forward joins a Tottenham team sitting just 14th in the Premier League table under struggling boss Ange Postecoglou.
Tel made his debut for the club in Thursday night’s humbling Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool, coming on as a second-half substitute to replace Richarlison.
While the France U21 international eventually agreed to join Spurs, transfer journalist Christian Falk – who broke the news Tel would be moving to north London on deadline day – says his long-term future may lie elsewhere.
It is claimed Tel would still be keen to join Manchester United in the summer, having pushed to join the Red Devils in January before a loan move broke down.
United were interested in a late deal as they looked to bolster Ruben Amorim’s attacking options following the departure of Marcus Rashford and Antony but refused to pay Bayern €5m for a loan fee.
There is also a chance Tel returns to Bayern Munich, though that would depend on Kompany changing his stance on a player he has repeatedly overlooked this season.
Discussing his move to Tottenham after speculation linking him with Manchester United and Arsenal, Tel said: ‘Why I chose Tottenham? It was the best option for me.
‘I’m ready to play, I’m here, I’m ready to grow. It was the best option for me and now I’m very happy.
‘I felt the commitment, I spoke with the president, the team manager, the coach and as I said, that was very important for me.’
United boss Ruben Amorim, meanwhile, recently explained his decision not to use the transfer market to significantly bolster his squad at Old Trafford.
‘It was my decision to do that,’ Amorim said. ‘We are taking some risks but it’s the way we want to proceed.
‘We want to win some games, we can improve our team, we will have time to train because I’m always complaining about the time to train, so now we have time to train, and the team will improve.
‘The players, I want a certain type of player with a different profile and we are changing right away.’
