The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party, on Monday, urged President Bola Tinubu to do a critical assessment of his administration and sack all the ministers and heads of government agencies and parastatals that have done nothing to substantially move the country forward.

Given the state of the economy, among others, the party also scoured the APC-led government 2.5 on a scale of 10.

Addressing the press in Abeokuta on Monday, the factional Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Arabambi, said, ‘The bitter truth is that even under President Tinubu, Nigeria has not moved forward.”

Arabambi blamed the stunted growth of the country in the last 64 years on the “lack of political will and capacity by the past administrations to serve the people and pursue good governance, equity and justice that drives all-encompassing development”.

He also demanded for the sacking of the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari and other executives of the oil company saying that they have not run the country’s oil sector in a way that is beneficial to an average Nigerian.

Arabambi equally said that the President should, as a matter of urgency, withdraw the licences of the Electricity Distribution Companies as they have done too poorly to address the challenge of the epileptic power supply in the country.

He said, “If I am to rate the administration of President Bola Tinubu on a scale of 10, I will give this administration 2.5 given the poor state of the economy among others.

“The truth is that Nigeria is not moving forward and that is why we are saying that as we celebrate the 64th Independence anniversary, the President must rejig his cabinet.

“He must look out for the round peg for the round hole. He should sack all those adding no value to his government. He should also stop making appointments based on party affiliations but on competency and merit. Nigerians deserve so much more than we are currently receiving under this government”.

Arabambi has also faulted the way and manner the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission handled the corruption charges against the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

“In the case of Yahaya Bello, it is so clear that it is a hatchet job that the EFCC is up to.

“The person that you declared wanted even after you tarnished his reputation and subjected him to media trial, comes to your office, says “here I am.” and you tell him to go home.

“Then at night, you go to attack him, start shooting in a residential neighbourhood, that person under the law is entitled to feel as though there is an attempt to assassinate him”.
