Simon Jordan has urged Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou to 'do as you're told' after his viral rant about modern football.

Following Tottenham's 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, Postecoglou questioned why he is the only one pushing back on constant changes being made in football.

Lucas Bergvall was the hero on Wednesday night after scoring an 86th minute winner for Tottenham, although some thought he was lucky to be on the pitch after escaping a red card.

Teenager Bergvall has just avoided a second yellow card for a late challenge on Kostas Tsimikas having already been booked for a tackle on Luis Diaz.

Speaking afterwards, Postecoglou argued the current rules dictate that Bergvall escaped a yellow because Liverpool retained possession and benefitted from an advantage.

He then added: "We've just got to be careful about constantly why do we want to change the game so much, and I know I'm going to be the old bloke in the stands that keep shouting 'boo' every time and I'll be the only one, but I just thought people would be a little bit more protective about the sanctity of the game.

"That's what I was talking about. I wasn't criticising referees, I wasn't. I've never criticised, I didn't think the decision was right, but it's just the way the game, I think there's a lot of confusion at the moment. That's my belief that the game is changing on the basis of technology, and I'm saying why isn't anyone speaking up about it?

"Especially in this country who, for all intents and purposes, you feel, you guys think you're custodians of the game, you've got a song that says 'it's coming home', this is your game, and yet it takes an Aussie from the other side of the world to be the one that's most conservative about changes."

The first-leg tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium also saw the first in-stadium VAR announcement in England as referee Stuart Atwell confirmed to the ground that Dominic Solanke's goal was ruled out for offside.

Speaking after the club's 2-1 defeat to Newcastle, Postecoglou claimed that 'had all things been equal and balanced, we would've won'.

Now, ex-Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has hit back at Postecoglou over his continued press conference antics.

Reacting on talkSPORT, Jordan said: "Pack it in, Ange. I mean, genuinely pack it in. First of all, they're not an outlier. It's not happening in English football, it's happening across European football and world football.

"What is it you're saying that's changing? We know that the technology needs to improve and evolve.

"I guarantee you if people wanted to bother to do any research, they could pull out a 100 examples of Ange Postecoglou complaining about a refereeing decision of some shape or description, whether it was offside, whether it was handball, whether it was inappropriate tackle.

"So for him to have a straight face and sit in a press conference and say, 'Jeez guys, what are you guys doing with it all?'

"The reasons why technology has been involved is because it's been made almost practically impossible to officiate a game without additional support because managers, the media, pundits, nobody will accept refereeing decisions.

"Do as you're told, accept decisions. If football fans want to rage about it, let them rage about it, because that's part of the intrigue of football."
