How much is a 14-minute Old Trafford hat-trick from a 22-year-old worth? Around £70million.
That’s according to one Manchester United fan who suggested the club should cash-in on their newest superstar.
Amad had Old Trafford worshipping himBut one supporter on his way out of the Theatre of Dreams gave Jason Cundy a nightmareAmad Diallo was United’s saviour once again, this time against Southampton as he miraculously turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 win.
Ruben Amorim’s side were on course for a crushing defeat to the Premier League’s bottom side, but thanks to their Ivorian wonderkid they avoided embarrassment and he stole the headlines.
It’s not the first time either, with Diallo United’s most productive player in the league with six goals and six assists, the latest - his first career hat-trick - stopping a four-game losing run.
Yet having just departed Old Trafford after witnessing a performance for the ages, talkSPORT caller Ben was on hand to give a staggering take.
He said on Sports Bar: “I think Diallo has been by far United’s best player under Amorim but, and this is where it becomes very controversial, I think in the summer if a team comes sniffing for him we take the offer.
“He’s got his highest ceiling now in terms of getting money in for him. We could then buy a player who fits Amorim’s system in a more natural way.
“I would be interested if United had a recall on Jadon Sancho because in that system behind the striker he would fit better than Diallo.
“I think United come under pressure when teams put men behind the ball, Diallo’s great when we’re counter attacking but Sancho would find room in those little spaces, and I think we’ve got to look at that English quota as well.
“If someone came and offered £70million or £80million I’d take it. I’d look at Florian Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen, he’s a natural ten in a two behind a striker.”
Host and former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy had to put a stop to what he was hearing.
Cundy was in disbeliefDiallo had just put in one of the performances of the season to bag a hat-trick“Sorry, Ben, I’ve had enough,” he interjected. “What are you talking about?
“I think you’ve probably chosen the worst day ever to make this argument. Diallo just scored a hat-trick in 14 minutes.”
“Against Southampton,” Ben replied. “Aaron Ramsdale passed him the ball and he got an easy tap-in for the third.”
Cundy then came up with a crafty plan.
“I think you’re on a wind up, you’re not a United fan,” he said before pausing. “Could you wait there for me Ben, stay on the line.
“Let’s go to the next line and speak to Roger. Rog, have you just heard Ben, do you want to speak to him?”

Rather staggeringly, though, Roger was in agreement, with Cundy’s plan backfiring and his head going straight into his hands.
“If the money’s right, yes,” Roger said. “I’d say £120 or £130million like Alexander Isak.”
“Okay. Right. I might be in a parallel universe,” Cundy finished.
Maybe we all are…
