A EuroMillions jackpot worth an eye-watering £83,474,081.80 has finally been claimed after nearly two weeks of uncertainty, National Lottery operator Allwyn has confirmed.
The lucky ticket-holder, who waited 13 days before registering their claim, has now secured a place at number 23 on the National Lottery’s list of “most spectacular” wins of all time.
The winning ticket, purchased in a shop, matched all five main numbers – 02, 11, 19, 30, and 49 – along with the Lucky Star numbers 03 and 08 in the January 24 draw, GB News reports Thursday afternoon.
The remarkable delay in claiming the prize had left officials astonished, as it was the “biggest prize to have gone unclaimed at this stage.”
Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, expressed his excitement over the claim.
He said, “This is absolutely incredible news, and we are delighted that this jaw-dropping EuroMillions jackpot prize has now been claimed.
“Everyone dreams of that huge win when they buy their EuroMillions ticket – and for this lucky ticket-holder, this dream has become a reality.”
He added, “Imagine all the possibilities that are now within their grasp. We will now focus on supporting this ticket-holder through the process so they can start enjoying their win as soon as possible.”
As per National Lottery protocol, the ticket must now be validated and paid before the winner decides whether to go public or remain anonymous.
Allwyn has confirmed that no details about the ticket-holder’s identity, location, or whether the prize was won by an individual or a syndicate will be released unless the winner chooses to disclose them.
This latest jackpot win adds to the UK’s history of enormous EuroMillions prizes. The country’s largest-ever win remains the £195 million prize claimed by an anonymous ticket-holder in July 2022, followed by Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester, who scooped £184,262,899 in May of the same year.
The UK’s third-largest win was a £177 million prize secured in November 2024.
PUNCH Online reports that EuroMillions is a transnational lottery spanning multiple European nations.
