The marriage between AC Milan striker Alvaro Morata and his wife Alice Campello has reportedly broken down as they celebrated Spain’s Euro 2024 victory.
The forward and Campello confirmed in August that they were splitting after seven years of marriage, just weeks after the couple celebrated on the pitch with their children as Spain beat England in the Euro 2024 final in Germany.
Morata explained that this decision ” painful ” came as their relationship deteriorated due to “continuous misunderstandings that gradually wear things down”before later swearing that he ” never cheated on her.” Campello, for her part, confirmed that there was no infidelity behind the breakup and said that ” immaturity ” And ” instability ” were factors in the divorce.
A painful decision
According to Spanish journalist Alexia Rivas, the tension reached its peak when the couple argued on the pitch as Morata and his La Roja teammates celebrated their latest success. Rivas said Campello only wanted her, Morata and their children on the pitch for the festivities, demanding that the player’s parents and family be excluded, which sparked an outburst. The journalist adds that there is no sign of reconciliation and that lawyers are currently working on the divorce papers.
Morata and Campello will go through divorce proceedings while the 31-year-old continues to settle in at his new club, AC Milan. The player will miss Spain’s upcoming Nations League games through injury and will hope to be back in action when Milan take on Venezia on September 14.
