A dirty trick played by Messi on Mbappé, the shattering declaration!

A Spanish journalist has made a shocking announcement about Lionel Messi.

After two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi decided to join MLS last summer, where he signed with the franchise co-owned by David Beckham, Inter Miami. If for some this choice resembles a golden pre-retirement, others think that the Argentine icon can make a little more of his mark on history.

For Spanish journalist Quim Domenech, the former Barça legend has every chance of winning the next Ballon d’Or, which will be awarded next October. He is even convinced of it, but on two conditions… “If Messi wins MLS and the Copa America, he will win the next Ballon d’Or”he assured.

Competition for Messi

Record holder for the number of Ballon d’Ors, Lionel Messi won the most prestigious individual distinction in football last year, for the eighth time in his career. A coronation that the 36-year-old striker owes largely to the Argentinian’s victory at the 2022 World Cup, of which he was the main architect.

However, even if Messi were to win MLS and the Copa America this year, the competition promises to be tough. Kylian Mbappé, semi-finalist of the Champions League with PSG, will inevitably be one of the big favorites for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. Just like Vinicius and Jude Bellingham, who are having a fantastic season with Real Madrid.
