A great start for Henry’s Blues

The French Olympic team dominated the United States this Wednesday for its entry into the tournament (3-0).

A good thing done! Despite a tense start and a relative delay in getting going, Thierry Henry’s French team did not miss its debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Facing an American selection that should not be overlooked, the Blues won 3-0 this Wednesday evening in Marseille.

Of course, it was not until the second half that the French team – certainly capable of the best offensively speaking – took the upper hand over their first opponent in the tournament. The hour mark was even reached with a blank score when Alexandre Lacazette, with a brilliant inspiration, decided to go solo and crack a winning cross shot from the edge of the area (1-0, 61e).

Unmissable Olise

Thus freed, the Blues were quick to repeat the game, thanks to Michael Olise, one of the most prominent players during the preparation. With a long-range attempt, the new Munich player hit the target to sign the break and protect his team while the United States had tried to respond after the opening of the scoring by the locals (2-0, 69e).

At the end of the match, Loïc Badé increased the score with a powerful header placed under the crossbar, following a corner from Joris Chotard (3-0, 85e). A harsh result for the USA, but a reassuring realism after friendly matches where the Blues sometimes wasted a lot. To be confirmed in three days against Guinea, who earlier in the day suffered the law of New Zealand (1-2).
