The French international has decided to take on a new challenge in Italy.
Raphael Varane’s future is now taking shape on the Italian peninsula. The French defender, who joined Como 1907 this Sunday as a free agent after the end of his contract with Manchester United, has signed a two-year contract with the Lombard club, until June 2026.
In a statement released by Lariani, the former Lens player expressed his enthusiasm for the Serie A team’s project and his eagerness to work with Giuseppe Sinigaglia’s players.
Varane aims for new heights
“At first I was curious about what this project was about, but then I immediately saw that it was special, different from all the others I had been offered, so I wanted to know more. The more I learned about the project, the more interesting it became, which gave me a different perspective on what I wanted to do. Once the project was launched, it went straight to the top of the list and we managed to close the deal.”declared the 2018 world champion.
“I’m very happy. There’s a lot to do and it’s very exciting. I have a lot of experience at the highest level and now to be able to share that knowledge and help a club build itself and hopefully reach the top is super exciting,” he continued.
