FC Nantes could well add a new piece to its defense. The club is exploring the possibility of recruiting Maximiliano Caufriez, a 27-year-old Belgian defender, currently on loan from Clermont to Valencia. According to the Belgian press and The Teamthe latter has been on the radar of the Nantes club since the injury of Nathan Zézé. Despite limited playing time at Valencia, where he only played one match in La Liga, Caufriez's profile still interests the club's coach, Antoine Kombouaré.
However, the matter remains complicated. Although Valencia accept the prospect of ending his loan, the player's salary of around €500,000 per month represents a major obstacle for Nantes, who would therefore have to assume the full cost. The club continues to follow this path, while exploring other alternatives in order to strengthen its defense.
