A PSG icon has issued serious criticism of Ousmane Dembélé, saying he is unreliable ahead of the Manchester City clash.

Just over two weeks before the crucial match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, Luis Enrique’s tactical choices are already at the center of debate. Some observers express serious doubts about the tenure of Ousmane Dembélé, considered incapable of meeting expectations during major meetings.

During his show Rothen ignites on RMC Sport, Jérôme Rothen, former emblematic PSG player, did not mince his words with regard to Ousmane Dembélé. According to him, the French international is not reliable and should not start against Manchester City. Rothen believes that the Parisian winger, although explosive at times, does not provide enough guarantees in high-level matches.

Dembélé always has detractors.

“Dembélé is not reliable”

“We are betting everything on Dembélé’s success, but we have seen Dembélé: he is not reliable”, Rothen said while criticizing Luis Enrique’s choices. The former midfielder pleaded for Gonzalo Ramos to be lined up in place of Dembélé, believing that the Portuguese could better meet the demands of such an appointment. “We will need a number 9 who scores goals and creates a difference up front. Unfortunately, I think it’s not going to happen, because Luis Enrique trusts Dembélé too much. he added.

Rothen also highlighted the need to start Bradley Barcola, another player he sees as crucial to facing Manchester City. Although he recognizes Barcola’s current poor performance, he believes that his contribution is essential to hope for qualification.

Growing pressure on Luis Enrique

These statements from Rothen reflect the concerns of some PSG supporters and observers regarding the choices of Luis Enrique. If Ousmane Dembélé has not yet completely convinced, the Spanish coach still seems to have total confidence in him. It remains to be seen whether this bet will pay off against a formidable opponent like Manchester City.

In the meantime, the criticism is intensifying and putting even more pressure on the shoulders of the French international, who will have to respond on the pitch to silence his detractors.
