This summer, we partied like it was 1996. That was the year the film Twister hit theaters on its way to some mega box office. This year, almost 30 years later, we went back to the suck zone for Twisters—which thankfully didn’t suck.
Twisters, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, was one of the summer’s biggest hits and it’s coming home on October 8. That’s when you’ll be able to own it on digital download, followed on October 22 by the physical release. We’ll get into all the specifics below but here, io9 has something special. Here’s an exclusive clip from behind the scenes of the film when an actual storm—not a tornado, thankfully—hit the set while they were filming on location.
This is a fun clip, and we’re excited to see more of it, but did you watch that and not think “Why aren’t you filming this?” We did. Of course, the destruction in the film has to be much greater and there’s this thing called “safety” the production has to deal with, so you understand. But at the same time, that was our first reaction. Let us know what you think.
Again: Twisters is coming to digital download on October 8 and 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD October 22. Here’s the list of special features:
