The Blues’ match against Israel on Thursday at the Stade de France, punctuated by a sad score of zero parity, seemed likely to dictate to Didier Deschamps a slightly more offensive eleven this Sunday in Italy, to close the group stage of the League of Nations. It’s not the case in the end.

While Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise were expected to start at San Siro in a 4-2-3-1 system, the national coach decided to maintain a midfield with three players. In this case Adrien Rabiot, Manu Koné and Mattéo Guendouzi.

Konate captain

Behind, Lucas Digne and William Saliba appear in place of Théo Hernandez and Dayot Upamecano. In front, Randal Kolo Muani remains the starter but in an off-center position, alongside Marcus Thuram, the local of the stage, and Christopher Nkunku.

Note that Ibrahima Konaté inherits the captain’s armband worn three days earlier by N’Golo Kanté. A first in the French team for the Liverpool defender.

The eleven tricolor in Italy: Maignan – Koundé, Konaté, Saliba, Digne – Koné, Rabiot, Guendouzi – Kolo Muani, Thuram, Nkunku.
