Atletico Madrid have reportedly made a big decision regarding Antoine Griezmann’s future.
Author of a great season with Atlético Madrid, Antoine Griezmann, on the other hand, completely missed his Euro with the Blues. Having gone on vacation to recharge his batteries before meeting up with his Madrid partners to begin his pre-season preparation, Antoine Griezmann was also due to discuss a new contract with his management during the summer. Discussions which should not take place, however.
According to the daily newspaper ASthe decision-makers of the Matelassiers would have changed their mind. They would not finally plan to offer a contract extension with a salary increase to the vice-captain of the French team this summer.
Griezmann, an extension in two years or the MLS?
While “Grizi’s” current contract runs until June 30, 2026, the Colchoneros would consider the duration sufficient. In addition, the Madrid club must pay attention to its wage bill and would not intend to offer more than the 7 million euros net per month that the 33-year-old Mâconnais currently receives.
However, Atlético would not close the door to an extension in two years. Except that this time, it may be Antoine Griezmann who will decline the offer, he who has never hidden his desire to join the MLS at the end of his lease in the Spanish capital.
