The former Fulham star also scored a historic hat-trick in the final of the UEFA Europa League to earn Atalanta their first-ever European silverware, and only the second major trophy in their 117-year history.
Lookman scored 17 goals and contributed 10 assists in 45 games across all competitions for Atalanta in the 2023-24 season and has made a similarly productive start to this campaign, finding the net 11 times in 19 club games as Gian Piero Gasperini’s team sit two points clear of Napoli at the summit of Serie A.
“Congratulations
@molalookman on winning the CAF Player of the Year 2024 award! A well-deserved recognition of your incredible talent and your significance to Nigeria and African football,”Peseiro wrote on X.
“It is also important to highlight the role of the Nigerian national team, whose collective efforts contributed to this individual award, as well as the remarkable achievement of a Super Eagle winning the award for the second consecutive year, following @victorosimhen9 victory last year.
Many congratulations!”
