2018 world champion with the French team, Samuel Umtiti has just suffered another setback to his career. At 30 years old, the Losc defender has reason to ask questions.

Three months before the end of the Ligue 1 season, Samuel Umtiti does not have much chance of playing again between now and Saturday May 18 and the 34th and final day. The central defender of Losc has once again passed into the hands of surgeons. The 2018 world champion underwent surgery this Thursday in Lille (arthroscopy) of the left knee to remove a small piece of cartilage which was causing discomfort to the player “, indicated a press release from the northern club on Friday.

The information raises fears about the duration of the former FC Barcelona’s unavailability. Samuel Umtiti has already experienced problems with this knee since winning the title with the French team almost six years ago. When he wore the Barça jersey (2016-2022), the one who was revealed to OL had been absent 310 days because of his knee problems, not counting the months in the infirmary due to muscle injuries.

Arriving in July 2023 in Lille, from Lecce (Serie A), Samuel Umtiti was hampered by a hip problem during preparation for the season before suffering a concussion at the end of September.
