‘Absolute disgrace’: Foster in disbelief over what he saw from £350k p/w United man vs Cherries

It’s widely agreed among the Manchester United fanbase that Casemiro just seems to be past it.

Of course, you can’t ever discredit the illustrious career he’s had up to this stage, in which he’s frequently been labelled one of the best midfielders in world football.

Now, though, at 32 years of age, it looks like his legs have finally given up on him. Not only has he become far more prone to injuries, but you’d struggle to find a match where Casemiro, who ranks as the club’s highest earner on a reported £350,000 per week, has gone toe-to-toe with the opposition’s attackers and really put in a spirited shift to grind out a result

Some supporters would even go as far as to say that the Brazilian is not only detrimental to the side, he’s also costing United goals. For Bournemouth’s second goal on Saturday evening, he was jogging back in his own time while Marcos Senesi played through the prolific Justin Kluivert.

Casemiro then tried to quickly intervene with a last-ditch lunge, but the Cherries attacker had already dispatched a powerful strike past Andre Onana and into the back of the net.

Former Red bemoans Casemiro’s uninspired showing

Reacting to Kluivert’s contribution on his YouTube, Ben Foster was left in disbelief over the No.18’s involvement – or lack thereof.

“The second goal, Casemiro, he’s a holding midfielder,” the former United goalkeeper began. “He should be that engine, that rat in the midfield, the disruptor – somebody that breaks up all the attacks, gets in people’s faces.

“The second goal, for me, is an absolute disgrace. It’s an absolute disgrace. He’s allowed to wander into that space and get his shot off.

“Casemiro almost notices at the last second, meanders in, hangs a leg in there, and I’m thinking, do you know what? If I was a manager of a team and my holding midfielder did that, that action there and then, I’d say that’ll do. You, come off.

“And I’d make a point of showing this in the week as well. Next week, we’d have a meeting on Monday, and I’d show this to everyone and say, ‘You see that, that’s an absolute disgrace’.

“The reason why he was brought off was because you break a neck, you bust a gut, you get in front of that player, you shut it down and you block it. What you’ve done there is you’ve just allowed him to walk in, get his shot off and score a goal. Simple as that.”
