Paul Merson wasn’t impressed by Manchester United’s performance during their 2-1 loss against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
After such a promising start to the new year Manchester United registered their first loss since December after losing 2-1 to Fulham at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils failed to create any clear-cut chances in the first half and were made to pay when Calvin Bassey gave the visitors the lead in the 65th minute.
It looked like Manchester United had salvaged a point when Harry Maguire equalised in the 89th minute but after committing bodies forward in search of a winner they let themselves open on the counter.
Marco Silva’s side punished them for this as Alex Iwobi swept the ball past Andre Onana in the seventh minute of added time.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Merson labelled the defeat as ‘shocking’.
“Man Utd were shocking. I’m not exaggerating. Absolutely shocking,” he said.
“How they think they can get in the top four… What’s the point in getting in the top four anyway? They’re not going to win the Champions League, so what’s the point in being in it?”
Erik ten Hag’s side currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points off Aston Villa in fourth spot.
The Red Devils must travel to the Etihad Stadium next weekend to face off against an in-form Manchester City.
