The Chief Medical Director, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti Multi-System Hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe, on Wednesday, bemoaned infertility in marriage and the attendant stigma and emotional burden, saying it makes couples feel isolated and hopeless.
Ogundipe, who said that infertility “is a significant challenge faced by millions of couples worldwide often causing stress, emotional strain and even health complications like high blood pressure and depression, said that ABUAD MSH was out to provide solutions “for couples longing to experience the joy of parenthood.”
The CMD, who spoke in Ado Ekiti during the official launch of ABUAD MSH fertility Centre, described the centre as “a response to the pressing need in Nigeria and sun-Saharan Africa for high-quality reproductive healthcare.
“We understand the physical, emotional and financial toll infertility can take, and we are dedicated to alleviating these challenges. We have equipped the centre with cutting-edge In-Vitro Fertilization equipment and advanced facilities to ensure precision and success,” he said.
Ogundipe, who said the centre was a scientific and medical way of wiping tears from childless couples, added that “it will eliminate the financial strain of medical tourism through treatments at affordable costs significantly lower than global averages, making it accessible to more families”.
He said, “The combination of advanced technology, expertise and affordability ensures that the AMSH Fertility Centre is poised to make a significant impact in the lives of countless couples”.
ABUAD Founder, Aare Afe Babalola, who described the event as important in the life of ABUAD and MSH, said it was an attempt to bring hope and healing to countless families.
Babalola, who dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the cost of healthcare was high in ABUAD MSH, said, “I have heard people say that ABUAD MSH collects dollars even before seeing a patient. Those who have come to the hospital for treatment have debunked the falsehood.
“In ABUAD MSH, we are out to put smiles on the faces of children, men and women at the Fertility Centre. We have state-of-the-art IVF equipment to assist couples in conceiving with additional facilities for intra-cytoplasmic semen injection; egg freezing and preservation; ovulation induction and monitoring; and fertility counselling.”
Babalola lauded the doctors, nurses and other staff of ABUAD MSH for “the commitment and passion for quality service as well as the progress made so far”.
