It will be AC Milan up against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday 10 August when the women’s teams of the two clubs meet.
The game is part of the Sela weekender announced in early July.
The Newcastle United men’s team playing Girona FC on Friday 9 August, then Stade Brestois on Saturday 10 August.
When that original announcement was made, the opponents for the NUFC women’s side were ‘to be confirmed’.
It will be a great test for the women’s team ahead of the new season, as they attempt to make it three promotions in a row and make it into the Super League, the top tier of women’s football in England.

Newcastle United Women will host Italian side AC Milan Women in the highly anticipated ‘Sela Weekender’ at St. James’ Park this coming August.
Becky Langley’s side have celebrated back-to-back league promotions and will prepare for their upcoming Barclays Women’s Championship campaign by taking on European opposition when The Rossonere head to Tyneside on Saturday 10th August, 1pm BST kick-off.
Backed by the club’s primary sponsor, the clash against AC Milan Women will be the first-ever women’s Sela Cup game, which kicks off a day of action as Eddie Howe’s men face French side Stade Brestois, with the Magpies looking to retain the trophy following last summer’s victory.
Speaking about The Sela Weekender, Newcastle United Women Head Coach, Becky Langley, said: “The excitement ahead of this season continues to build after an amazing couple of years celebrating promotions. This team has been on an incredible journey and special parts of this have been playing at St. James’ Park in front of thousands of passionate fans.
“To be able to face European opposition like AC Milan Women, at St. James’ Park, is great as it will give us a different test and help with our preparations ahead of this coming season, which we can’t wait start.”
The Sela Weekender of action at St. James’ Park will get underway on Friday 9th August, 7pm BST kick-off, when Eddie Howe’s side face La Liga club Girona at St. James’ Park. The following day will see Newcastle Women kick off an exciting afternoon of football against AC Milan Women, 1pm BST, before the men return for their Sela Cup tie against Stade Brestois, 4pm BST kick-off.

Day tickets for Friday or Saturday are on general sale now and priced at £20 for adults and £10 for concessions, while access to premium bars is available at £25 and £15 for each respective matchday.
Hospitality packages starting at £138(+VAT) will be available for the Friday evening fixture against Girona FC, with premium tickets covering both Sela Cup matches starting at £70(+VAT).
