AC Milan is in the middle of construction. While on the pitch the Milanese are focusing on the final victory in the Europa League and second place in the championship, internally the managers are focusing on the organization of the years to come and in particular contract extensions. Several matters must be resolved in the coming weeks, with priority given to the management of contracts which will end on June 30, 2024.

At 37 years old, Olivier Giroud should not return to the transalpine club for next season. After three seasons in Italy, the French international should join his friend Hugo Lloris and Los Angeles FC next season at the end of the Euro with the France team. His replacement this season, Luka Jović, is also at the end of his contract in a few weeks. Loaned by Fiorentina, the Serbian finds color with the Rossoneri. According to Gazetta Dello Sport, Stefano Pioli and his leaders were convinced and want to request a new year of loan. The future of Simon Kjaer is much more uncertain. The 35-year-old Dane has lost playing time in recent weeks. He still wants to continue in Milan, but AC Milan wants to leave a few weeks of reflection to decide on his case.

The future of French star players in suspense

Even if these players are key elements of the Milan team this season, what worries supporters more are the contracts of Mike Maignan and Théo Hernandez. The two players returning from Clairefontaine this week have a contract running until 2026. Considered the best player of this season on the AC Milan side, Théo Hernandez is one of the priorities according to the Corriere dello Sport. AC Milan wants to extend their 26-year-old player and meet his high salary demands. Bayern Munich remains in the game, but Milan will not let him leave for less than 100 million euros. For Mike Maignan, managers are more particular about salary requests. The goalkeeper of the France team is demanding a salary of 8 million euros per season (currently 2.8 million euros) to extend his contract according to Tuttomercatoweb. The Rossoneri do not want to repeat the mistake of 2021 by letting Gianluigi Donnarumma leave for free at PSG and could match his claims. Club general manager Giorgio Furlani said the ball was in the court of the two players who could decide their future.

The Lombard club would also like to strengthen its young shoots. Kevin Zeroli (19 years old) should in all likelihood extend for a long-term contract lasting until 2028. Same case for the Serbian Jan-Carlo Simić (18 years old) who represents one of the club's main hopes and who has a contract which is stops next year. The most urgent file is that of Francesco Camarda (16 years old). The one who experienced his first minutes of play at the age of 15 last fall is at the end of his contract in a few months. The next few weeks promise to be long for Zlatan Ibrahimović and the leaders of AC Milan.
