It was a rumor that had caused quite a bit of ink to flow in the Italian press. A year ago, when his contract with AC Milan was about to end, Zlatan Ibrahimović was on the shelves of Monza, then chaired by Silvio Berlusconi and Adirano Galliani, the two former heads of AC Milan. In an interview given to La Gazzetta dello SportGalliani confirmed that the Brianzoli sports management had really tried to lure the Swedish giant for one last dance in Lombardy: “Very true, as a player or in another role. His love for Milan was stronger”, declared the 79-year-old Italian leader. The Italian senator also returned to an episode during the Rossoneri era, where the Swedish striker did not want to leave Milan for PSG.

“Together we had two wonderful years with a Scudetto to boot. In the summer of 2012, Ibra wanted to stay in Milan and I comforted him. I told him he was going to stay, we were at my place and we toasted with a good bottle of Dom Pérignon. There was also Mino who, as usual, had already understood and planned everything: ‘In two months, he will sell you.’ It only happened because circumstances permitted nothing else. He didn’t speak to me for two years. He thought I betrayed him and he never accepted it. He wanted to stay in Milan and that was my second big regret.also specified the former right-hand man of Silvio Berlusconi, today in the Monza offices.
