Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has emphasized that his successor should be a grassroots politician who is prepared to engage with the community and make sacrifices for the state’s welfare.
Naija News reports that Fintiri made this submission during a reception for 226 ward chairmen and local and state executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who visited the Government House in Yola for a show of solidarity yesterday.
Fintiri praised the party’s leadership in the state, particularly under Barrister Tahir Shehu, and acknowledged the vision of the ward executives for maintaining the party’s strength at the grassroots level.
He urged the executives to hold quarterly meetings to fortify the party’s structure, asserting that the government is committed to exceeding its previous achievements, a commitment he intends to uphold until the populace is content and the state is improved.
The governor expressed his discontent with the recent Edo gubernatorial election, characterizing the results as a blatant theft and an affront to democracy, particularly due to the opposition’s underhanded tactics and their manipulation of social media to mislead the public.
Fintiri reaffirmed his dedication to the PDP, encouraging party members to remain steadfast and continue their collaborative efforts to restore the nation through the party’s initiatives.
He asserted that the PDP possesses the capability, vigour, and resources necessary to confront the opposition, reiterating that as long as they maintain their position, the party will be poised to reclaim leadership in the country by 2027.
Previously, the state PDP chairman, Barrister Abubakar Tahir Shehu, expressed his admiration for the governor, who has received numerous national accolades, including recognition from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government. He noted that the party in the state is closely monitoring the governor’s activities and takes pride in his achievements.
He extended his congratulations to Governor Fintiri for his outstanding performance in the national party assignment in Edo, encouraging him to maintain his commendable efforts.
Barrister Shehu further praised the governor for his dedicated service to the state, expressing hope that his successor would continue to build upon his legacy while reaffirming their loyalty and support for his continued success.
