Former Flying Eagles striker, Akor Adams, says he is ready to rediscover his goal-scoring form in the Spanish La Liga as he teams up with Sevilla on a five-year deal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 25-year-old was welcomed into the Spanish giants training session on Thursday and he could be in line to make his debut against Gefate in the La Liga on Saturday.

He joined Sevilla from French Ligue 1 side Montpellier in a deal reported to be worth €5.5m.

“The most important thing is that I am fit and mentally ready. I have had a very warm welcome since I arrived and I will join the group and try to adapt as quickly as possible, getting better with each game. I am ready,” he told the club website.

Adams’s signing comes as a bit of a surprise, considering his dry spell with Montpellier this season but he hopes to rediscover his goal-scoring form in Spain.

“I hope to repeat that here. It would be great to come into a new environment and a new system and see that I continue to do what I’ve always done. In Norway I had a very good career, I was in a good team and so it was a collective achievement. In France, I also achieved the same in my first season, so I hope to repeat the same here and give my best.”

Sevilla Sporting Director, Víctor Orta, also spoke about the qualities of the Nigerian who joins his compatriots, Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho at the club.

“He is a player we have been following for some time. In his time in Norway and at the beginning in Montpellier he had excellent numbers. Then due to the circumstances of the team, he couldn’t maintain that output, but when we saw that he was available on the market we did not hesitate to sign him because he can bring us physicality, speed, play with his back to goal and energy.

“He is a very complete striker who has already played in a competitive league like the French league, with a lot of marking and intensity. Here he can add and contribute with all those qualities.”

Sevilla are currently 12th in the Spanish topflight with 27 points, three points shy of the Europa Conference League qualifying spot.
