On Monday, the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) approved the recommendation of its Technical Development Committee to appoint Finidi.
The former winger spent 20 months as assistant to Jose Peseiro before the Portuguese voluntarily left the post, after leading the team to a second place finish at the AFCON 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire.
After the departure of Peseiro, Finidi was appointed on an interim capacity during two friendly games against Ghana and Mali in Marrakech Morocco.
In the two friendly games, the Eagles edged Ghana 2-1 and lost 2-0 to Mali.
The 52-year-old’s immediate task will be the Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
Currently, the Eagles are in third place on two points after two games.
