Adrien Rabiot remains keen on a move to the Premier League with the France midfielder available on a free transfer.
The summer transfer window closed last Friday evening but clubs in England are still permitted to sign unattached players.
Rabiot is among the long list of high profile players still looking for a new club after his contract at Juventus expired in July.
AC Milan explored a move for the France international late in the window, interest that ultimately faded with Ismael Bennacer remaining at the club.
Rabiot was close to joining Manchester United two years ago only for salary demands to scupper the move. Reports as recently as last month claimed the Premier League giants had reignited their interest in the 29-year-old.
The former Paris Saint-Germain youngster has never hidden his desire to one day play in the Premier League and Gazzetta dello Sport report he ‘still dreams’ of a move to England.
He has previously said: ‘I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. I still have that desire.
‘I’d like to evolve in the Premier League. It’s the league, it’s the level of play that’s going on, that’s what attracts me most. It corresponds to my qualities.
‘I haven’t got a Premier League team in mind right now. I haven’t chosen a team or anything. It’s a general thing.’
United have signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG with that move made official on deadline day. But on Sunday’s evidence, they remain light on options in midfield with Casemiro enduring a nightmare afternoon in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The Brazil international was hauled off at half-time, replaced by 20-year-old Toby Collyer. Galatasaray are now reportedly now in talks to sign the former Real Madrid star one a season-long loan deal.
Ugarte is expected to take Casemiro’s place in the United starting XI for Kobbie Mainoo but an exit for Casemiro would leave them short with Collyer and Christian Eriksen there only other central midfield options.
