Ever since making a return to TV, former AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF had been playing a babyface role.
That changed on this week’s episode of Dynamite.
Last week, the Salt of the Earth had a face-to-face promo with former Ring of Honor Pure Champion Daniel Garcia. Friedman had asked Garcia to face him one more time at Wembley Stadium at All In London. But that moment was overshadowed by Will Ospreay, who had offered an International Championship match to Garcia.
This week on Dynamite, Daniel Garcia was in the main event challenging Ospreay for the International Championship. MJF was at the corner of Garcia. Towards the end of the match, Friedman handed the Dynamite Diamond Ring to Garcia. MJF suggested that Garcia hit Ospreay with the ring, but Garcia hesitated and gave the ring back. That slight hesitation cost Garcia as Ospreay hit the Hidden Blade, got the victory, and retained his championship.
Following the match, MJF brutally attacked Garcia and left him bloodied in the ring. Daniel Garcia was carried out on a stretcher by the medical team.
Now, AEW has taken to their Twitter to share a medical update on the former Ring of Honor Pure Champion. Garcia has regained consciousness but he is still kept under observation for any cervical injuries.
“EXCLUSIVE MEDICAL UPDATE ON DANIEL GARCIA! After receiving a brutal attack at the hands @The_MJF TONIGHT on #AEWDynamite, @garciawrestling was taken to a Chicago hospital for evaluation. He has regained consciousness, and is still under observation for cervical injuries,” AEW tweeted.
