Indomitable Lions of Cameroon striker Karl Toko Ekambi has described Nigeria’s Super Eagles a solid team.
A brace from Ademola Lookman sealed a 2-0 win for the Eagles against Cameroon in Abidjan on Saturday.
The Atalanta man opened the scoring in the 36th minute as he slotted home Victor Osimhen’s pass.
In the 90th minute, the forward then made it 2-0 thanks to a superb cross from Calvin Bassey.
It is a third straight win for the Eagles against Cameroon following wins at the 2004 and 2019 AFCONs.

In his post-match comments, Ekambi expressed sadness over the mistake that cost them the game.
“There was a team opposite that was solid. We made a mistake that cost us dearly because I think we were well in the match,” he was quoted on AllezLesLions X handle.
“We had the ball, we did good things, we managed to come out well. We weren’t dangerous but we had control.
“We made a mistake which cost us the first goal and in a knockout match, at 1-0, we know it’s complicated. We are disappointed, we will move on.”
The Eagles will now face Angola in the quarter-finals on Friday, 2nd January, 2024.
