At the 2021 edition, in the group stage also, the Eagles triumphed 2-0.

The three-time AFCON winners go into the game on the back of a win against hosts Côte d’Ivoire.

However, Odegbami stated that the team must know that they will be up against a tough opponent.

“I’m here to encourage you and to wish you well because the game against Guinea-Bissau is going to be a tough match,” the 1980 AFCON winner told the players while addressing them in camp on Sunday.

“It’s going to be a difficult match because that’s how it is in our tradition. When we win a match and we feel the next one will be easy that’s when it will be difficult.

“So I don’t expect an easy match but calmly do the things you know how to do best under any circumstances you will win and we will be with you here till the end.“

He singled out Ola Aina for praise following his outstanding display in the game against Côte d’Ivoire.

“I saw one of the masterful displays on the right wing in Aina and the game against Côte d’Ivoire should be copied and send it to every football school in the world, it’s masterful.

“In determination and composure you’re were just absolutely brilliant.“

Also, he expressed confidence that the team is good enough to be crowned champions.

He added”I believe it, you are winning it and I want you to believe it too and I know you can play because you are good.

“I wish you the best of luck and I’m here because we will take that cup together.“
