Victor Osimhen has reflected on the Super Eagles hard-earned victory against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
Jose Peseiro’s men claimed their first win at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, edging out the hosts 1-0 in a keenly contested encounter.
Osimhen won the penalty that was converted by William Troost-Ekong for the winning goal on 55 minutes.
“It’s a beautiful victory; we knew we would face a strong Cote d’Ivoire team,” the Napoli hitman said after the game.
“In the first match, we had numerous chances that we didn’t capitalize on. Today wasn’t different; we maintained the same mentality, and we hope this victory brings joy to everyone.
“We will carry this mindset into the remainder of the competition.”
The Super Eagles now occupy second position in Group A with four points from two games.
Jose Peseiro’s men will take on the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in their next game at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan next week Monday.
