Nigeria’s vice-president Kashim Shettima will lead a powerful federal government’s delegation to Cote d’Ivoire for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to a press release from the office of the vice-president, the country’s number one citizen, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Shettima to lead a presidential team to Abidjan for the highly anticipated encounter.
It would be recalled that Shettima was in attendance when the Super Eagles defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-final at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake on Wednesday.

Recognizing the unifying power of
football and the immense role the
Super Eagles play in fostering
national pride and unity, the President Tinubu, believes that Shettima’s presence at the finals alongside the delegation is a testament to the government’s unwavering support for the team and its dedication to their success.
Tinubu also called on all Nigerians, both home and abroad to rally behind the team.
The Super Eagles defeated the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 when both teams met earlier in the competition.
Sunday’s encounter is slated for the Alassanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan.
