Former Nigerian international, Daniel Amokachi has applauded the Super Eagles defence for shutting down Cameroon from making any serious attack in the round of 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that Nigeria defeated the Indomitable Lions 2-0 on Saturday, thanks to Ademola Lookman’s double.

Reacting to Nigeria’s victory, Amokachi during last night’s commentary on AfroSports AFCON coverage, stated that the quartet of William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina and Semi Ajayi have been solid at the back.

“Eagles defence have been so solid since the start of the competition. The likes of Troost-Ekong, Pla Aina, Celvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi have done so well at the back

“They made it difficult for Cameroon to make any good chances. Big credit to these guys because they are really solid.”

The Super Eagles will face Angola, who defeated Namibia 3-0 in the quarter finals of the tournament on Friday.
