Former Super Eagles assistant coach Fatai Amoo has praised the team’s caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen and his players following their win over Libya.

The West Africans defeated the Mediterranean Knights 1-0 in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday three encounter.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the decisive goal four minutes from time with Moses Simon providing the assist.

“So far, they have done quite well. in terms of the result we might say it didn’t meet public expectation, but we played well overall,” Amoo told Brila FM.

“Their defence prevented us from get many scoring opportunities; the Center forwards didn’t get much on the chances, but our wingers tried.

“Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman and even Samuel Chukwueze all did well. Perhaps we could have given Chidera Ejuke minutes too, he’s a good dribbler and that can help creatively in a game of that nature.”

“Honestly, the coaches did well with the substitutions in terms of creating chances. We only just need to reshuffle the team.”

“Our expectations are high because of past records, but if we bring in Pep Guardiola today, do you think he would be able to use some of the players that we have? Let’s be honest with ourselves.”
