Cheetahs of Benin Republic forward Tosin Aiyegun bagged his third assist in the French Ligue 2 in Lorient’s 3-1 win against Guingamp on Saturday.
Aiyegun helped Lorient return to winning ways after they lost 2-1 away to Clermont in their last fixture.
The forward provided the assist for Lorient’s first goal scored just eight minutes into the game.
The 26-year-old has now been involved in goals contributions in Lorient’s last four games.
He bagged an assist in the 3-3 draw away to Rodez, scored a goal in the 4-2 win over Dunkerque, netted another goal in the 2-1 loss to Clermont before his assist against Guingamp.
After missing his country’s AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Rwanda in October due to injury, Aiyegun will be making a return to the Cheetahs ahead of the fixtures with Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya this month.
He was in action when Benin Republic defeated the Super Eagles on matchday 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June this year.
Born in Nigeria to a Nigerian father and Beninese mother, Aiyegun called up to the Benin national team for a set of friendlies in March 2022.
He debuted with Benin in a 4–0 friendly win over Liberia on 24 March 2022, scoring a goal in his debut.
